How QR Codes Work

QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a type of matrix barcode. Unlike 1D barcodes that only store data horizontally, QR codes store data in both vertical and horizontal dimensions, allowing them to hold much more information.

Key features include Position Detection Patterns (the three squares at the corners) for fast orientation scanning, and Error Correction algorithm that enables the code to be read even if it is partially damaged or obscured.

FAQ

Do these QR codes expire?
No. The QR codes generated here are standard static QR codes. They do not depend on any intermediate server. As long as your content (e.g., URL) is valid, the QR code will work forever.
Is my data upload?
Absolutely not. All generation happens locally in your browser (client-side). No data is sent to any server, ensuring maximum privacy.
Does it support non-English characters?
Yes. This tool uses UTF-8 encoding, so it correctly handles Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other special characters.
Is there a scan limit?
No limits. You can create as many QR codes as you like and they can be scanned an unlimited number of times.
Can I use this for commercial purposes?
Yes. The QR codes you generate completely belong to you. You can use them for business cards, flyers, product packaging, and any other commercial use.
Why isn't my QR code scanning?
Common reasons include: low contrast between foreground and background colors (keep it dark on light), too much content making the pattern too dense, or a logo obscuring too much of the code. Try simplifying or using darker colors.
How do I add a logo?
This simple version doesn't support direct logo uploads. You can download the QR code image and use an image editor (like Photoshop) to overlay your logo in the center (keep it under 30% of the area).
Is there a character limit?
Technically, a QR code can hold thousands of characters. However, more text means a denser pattern, which is harder to scan. We recommend using a URL shortener for long links.
